“Eski Tören İçin Yeni Cilt” (New Skin for the Old Ceremony), the latest work by Melih Kıraç, one of the leading choreographers and dancers of Türkiye’s dance scene, awaits dance enthusiasts at Kundura Sahne on Sunday, March 10.
Premiered at Kundura Sahne in January and brought to life through the spellbinding solo performance of Kamola Rashidova, the piece points to the memory events experienced in a state of dementia and seeks paths toward a hybrid of past, present and future in the moment of performance.

Sparked by Melih Kıraç‘s journey to the village in Konya of his paternal grandmother, who was given up for adoption in the 1930s, and inspired by the dreams of Uzbekistan-born Kamola Rashidova and her sense of disconnection from her mother tongue, the choreography creates a dance of the ways we relate to memories, of our place in the world, and of our transience.
