Sümerbank’s 93rd founding anniversary is being celebrated at Beykoz Kundura with a variety of events. Taking place on July 11, 2026, the Sümerbank Anniversary Program brings back to life at Beykoz Kundura the memory of Sümerbank, one of the most important legacies of the Early Republican Period.

By presenting your ticket, you may enter Beykoz Kundura 2 hours before the screening, enjoy our food and drink areas, and visit the Kundura’s Memory: A World Fit into a Factory exhibition with a free reservation.

 

Please note that your event ticket/reservation does not grant access to the film studios located within Beykoz Kundura, and we kindly ask that you do not leave the designated area.
Photography with a professional camera is not permitted without written permission. We kindly ask that you hand over your recording devices at the security point at the Beykoz Kundura entrance.

Leather Phone Bag Design Workshop

This workshop aims to give participants hands-on experience of the basic techniques for making a handmade phone bag from natural leather. Over the course of the program, the stages of cutting, punching, edge finishing, hand stitching and finishing will be carried out step by step; by the end of the process, participants will have their own functional, ready-to-use leather phone bag.

The workshop requires no previous experience and is designed to help adult participants develop their manual skills and gain an awareness of craft-based production processes.

All materials will be provided by us.

Throughout its history, Beykoz has been home to various branches of production as an industrial hub; glassmaking is one of them, and it continues to this day. This workshop was designed with inspiration from Beykoz’s living glassmaking tradition. After a brief introduction to the history of glass, participants will try their hand at making glass beads over a flame. They will go through the steps of shaping the beads, letting them rest in cooling sand, removing them from the sand and stringing them into a bracelet or necklace. All the beads made during the event will belong to the participants.

In this workshop, participants gain hands-on experience of the traditional handmade papermaking process using recycled paper pulp. The work covers the preparation, forming and drying of the paper. The workshop aims to introduce participants to the basic techniques of handmade paper and to raise awareness of sustainable material use.

Stuffed Toy Workshop with Sümerbank Printed Fabrics

In this workshop, children design their own soft stuffed toys using colorful Sümerbank printed fabrics. They get to know the fabrics, explore their textures and create a small toy through simple cutting and arranging steps. The whole process is driven by play and discovery; children develop their manual skills while enjoying the pleasure of making something of their own—a toy they created themselves.

In this workshop, children design their own bookmarks using Sümerbank prints—colorful products of a bygone era—and pieces of leather. After a short introduction exploring the story of these patterned fabrics, they transform the different materials into original designs using cutting, joining and decorating techniques. Everyone leaves the workshop with a bookmark of their own.

Inspired by Sümerbank, children design the factory of their dreams. After a short exploration, they build factory models complete with production areas, chimneys and small details, using cardboard, fabric and other materials.

From Memory to Story: A Sümerbank Gathering

On July 11, Sümerbank’s founding anniversary, we come together with Sümerbank workers. We bring to light the stories hidden in individual memories and piece these fragments together to build a shared narrative. In this process, in which participants are actively involved, the past is not only remembered but retold together. Accompanied by musicians, this gathering was conceived as a living practice of memory.   Click here to register.
