To mark Teachers’ Day, the Kundura Hafıza Archive and Research Center will hold an Oral History Workshop on November 23, 2024, led by Prof. Dr. Arzu Öztürkmen of the Department of History at Boğaziçi University. The workshop, to be held on Saturday, November 23, from 14:00 to 18:00, will focus on the connections between individual memory, which is also the starting point of Kundura Hafıza, and social and collective memory.
Having begun as a historical method, Oral History is today a method and approach frequently used not only in the discipline of history but also in many other fields such as folklore, anthropology, sociology, literature and political science. In the Oral History Workshop for Teachers, organized by the Kundura Hafıza Archive and Research Center and led by Prof. Dr. Arzu Öztürkmen, the history and scope of oral history’s emergence as a discipline will first be discussed; then, after examining the framework within which oral history studies are conducted, their methodology and their reliability as scholarly data, teachers will be given guidance on how they can make use of oral history in their own curricula and school projects.
