A SHORT BREAK FROM QUARANTINE WITH KUNDURA SİNEMA

On the side of the highway in Palm Beach County, Florida, a curious crowd has begun to gather. Young and old, children, people with their dogs, people struggling along with walkers all share a single goal: to take a few cool selfies with Air Force One, carrying the President of the United States, in the background. Premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in 2017, Roadside Attraction is a documentary in which the directors feel no need to comment, letting the images provide all the explanation needed. With its approach of quietly observing ordinary people and capturing their excitement and facial expressions, the film stands as a modest but striking document of the notion of entertainment inherent in American culture, the cult of the leader, and the ailments of the selfie age.
