Kundura Sinema’s online viewing platform Kundurama is now streaming the 14-hour documentary “Women Make Film: A New Road Movie Through Cinema”, and to celebrate its release for audiences in Türkiye, we are delighted to share with you this striking conversation we held with director Mark Cousins!

Familiar to film lovers from his “The Story of Film: An Odyssey” documentary, director and film writer Mark Cousins spoke exclusively to Kundura Sinema for the film’s screening in Türkiye and answered questions from Altyazı Cinema Magazine editor Aslı Ildır. In this online conversation, Cousins tells the story of this crazy project, for which he watched thousands of films and brought together clips from the work of nearly 200 women directors, and explains that he chose to portray women filmmakers not as victims of the film industry but through their creativity and imagination.

Honored at the 2020 European Film Awards with the Innovative Storytelling Award, “Women Make Film: A New Road Movie Through Cinema” takes us on a unique journey guided by its co-producer Tilda Swinton along with actors Jane Fonda, Adjoa Andoh, Sharmila Tagore, Kerry Fox, Thandie Newton and Debra Winger, and through films by women directors from all over the world, it sets out the 40 golden rules of making “a good film.”
